Learning about shapes.

This is my presentation about identifying 2D shapes. I have sorted them by their shape and colour.  The features of a triangle are its sides and corners.  Did you know the corners are also known as vertices? something new that I have learnt about with shapes.

Arranging words into a full sentence.

Today I did some worksheets about arranging words into a full sentence.  Firstly I look at the words, and next the picture. Before I write I check that the sentence makes sense and that I have used all the words.  

I can recognise some rhyming words - cat, sat and mat.

Cindy the Cicada.

This is my picture of my imaginary insect, she's a cicada and her name is Cindy. I have labelled the parts of her.

Cindy the cicada moves getting to place to place underground by using her arms and legs.
She has spiky fangs and a spiky tail too.  Her colour is light brown.

Finding cicadas in my backyard.

Our inquiry topic for this term is about the Living World.  To start off with there are many living things that we can find in our backyard such as insects or bugs.  The challenge was to find something outside our home in the backyard.

Look at what I had found, when I went outside.  Some cicada shells on our feijoa tree!!

Here are some facts about Cicadas.  They found all around the world and live on every continent, except one.  Antartica.  I believe they wouldn't survive in the very cold climates.  There are 42 species of cicada in New Zealand.  That's a lot!!  All 42 species are unique to our country.

Another interesting fact:  Cicadas live most of their life underground.

My Treasure Map.

Ms Teleso read the story - Pirates Love Underpants.  One of the follow up activities was to draw a treasure map.  This is my treasure map.  It shows the X where you can find the hidden treasure.

Exercising with Dad and my brothers.

Today, I had lots of fun doing exercise with my dad and my brothers.  I hope we can do this again, because I enjoyed it so much.

My cousin celebrated her 11th birthday with all my family.  This is everyone around the table having dinner together.

My Superhero.

I have chosen Wonder Woman as my favourite superhero. This is my picture that I have drawn.  She's holding a shield to protect her from her villains and enemies. 

Because she is my favourite,  Wonder Woman has super strength. She uses her indestructible bracelets, this means they do not break. These are used to block bullets or other weapons. She can also fly with super speed.
